haha it may be hopeless, but I am in the same boat so I will try to further explain with my problem. I am looking to start a dedicated server, but before I rent out from the many websites that offer to host I want to make sure everything works and is fun.
I read the documantation on how to install WC3FT and I got lost on step 4/5 in "Copying the Server Files" Im not exactly sure where to put it, you talk about FTPing and thats probably where I got confused and lost. I want to test it on my listening server, regardless I am still unsure which directory I put the files in.
Do i put it here?
D:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\
[email protected]\dedicated server\cstrike
or here?
D:\Program Files\AMX Mod X\files\cstrike
In addition to that, i was lost about the "liblist.gam file". I'll look into it more when I get that far, since I have the floor I thought I would throw that out there. Any help is much appreciated.

Ftp is what you will have to do in order to set up your server once you order it. If you dont know what ftp is you may want to figure that out quickly as your screwed without it once you order a server.
liblist.gam file is in the cstrike folder..... as far as the mod, it works and runs great. If you are installing it on your hd, everything is the same as if you were installing it to the directory in ftp. You will still need to create the cstrike/addons folder for amx... wtf is amx doing in your programs folder??
You will need to install metamod, amxmodx, and any other mod in the addons folder... if you cant figure that out or screw up the install you will not be able to start your server.
Basically... from what it sounds like you are in the wrong forums for all the help you are going to be needing. Do some research... join all the necessary forums, and start reading! You will need to figure all this out before jumping into the deep waters of running a server.. or even installing this mod. Once you get everything else going... come back and we can help you with the mod. I may be wrong in saying that... if these guys want to teach you everything thats up to them. I however think you should look in the correct forums for all the answers you are going to be needing to address in running a dedicated server. Geesu and everyone else here has started from where your sitting at some point in time... and you will need to read and learn for yourself and look in the correct forums at some point in time anyways...... as these forums are for installing the mod, bug reports, etc..., not how to run and maintain a dedicated server.
If you screw up your rented server, your server host will charge you for fixing the serever/reinstall server due to you screwing something up and it constantly crashes as a result of not adding a module or plugin correctly.... usually the cost is $20 per fix/reinstall...
GOOD LUCK!

I thought everything you said was moderately helpful. However, I didnt appreciate your middle paragraph telling me to do some research and join forums. This is my 3rd day at attempting to learn how to run a decent server, each day I spend a good 2+ hours searching and reading. I've posted questions that were related in all their corresponding forums, I can think of at least 3 sites that I have gone too. I really dont need you telling me to go else where when the main question that I asked was WC3FT related. Everything else I left open for you to answer if you were kind enough to do so.
This is my 2nd plugin/mod that I am trying to add, I got the first one to work so I must be doing something right. Every other forum was kind enough to answer, explain, and not give me an attitude. I use the search function to the best of my ability before posting, but sometimes its hard to find what you're looking for if you dont know the key term.
You did help (to some extent) and I thank you for that. The attitude and butt kissing, Im not exactly sure where that came from, but the post could have done without.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I got WC3FT up and running. I woke this morning and went straight to my computer to try and solve my problem and it was just so simple and I feel kinda silly for even posting about it. A good nights rest apparently was all I needed. Thanks for helping Ghost.
If I run into any more (real) problems i'll post them here.

You can always let it be done for you.
for example. if you rent a server from Jolt you can ask them to install the mod for you. just give them the site to download it from and the next day it will be online

I could have gone that route and probably would if I knew that earlier. Its good to have a basic understanding when you're dishing out $40 a month though hehe. Just a few more hurdles and I should be done and happy. And I will let you guys know when that happens.

Dont know how I could be a "kiss ass" by giving my opinion that you shouldnt of been trying to install war3mod without installing amxmodx and metamod first. In my opinion you needed to get familiar with server before adding mods. Glad you got everything running, good luck on everything else.
I never once insulted you, so I would appreciate the same respect. Sorry for sounding like an asshole up there, assumed you didnt do much research and am sorry.
Cheers.

The reason why I wanted to jump right into the mod installation was because I did not know if the two could co-exist. I only wanted to start a server if I knew the two could work together and to my discovery, they can. I thought I did make it clear that you did aid me when I said, "Thanks for helping Ghost." hehe.
Right now I am trying to understand simple things like adding custom maps to my mapcycle.txt (which I still cant get to work haha), making myself admin (which I surprisingly managed to get working), and using the commands in-game with ease.
The last piece of the puzzle is of course the hardest. I posted about it yesterday (or the day before?) here
viewtopic.php?t=1080 because I do believe this is above the average server host (still no replies). I have not the slightest clue on how to go about solving this problem. I might as well plead my case here now, I dont enjoy a lot of threads with 1-2 posts anyway.
Please understand I dont expect the coders of WC3FT or CTF to drop what they are doing to whip up something incredible (I couldnt object if they did though). I dont expect any of the forum readers to give me a quick lesson on coding for CS either. I just need an explaination (it can be short and sweet) on how to add in extra code to the plugin(s) (WC3FT and/or CTF). Do I open the amxx or the sma file to make modifications? Im not even sure which program I use to make modifications, my coding experience extends to AutoIt3 and its been about 6-8 months since I have looked in its direction.
If I am not explaining myself clear enough, please speak up and I will try to be more specific.
EDIT: Did you edit your post?
