HLDS Crash while map Load "Precaching resources";

Post by nvfx » Thu Mar 16, 2006 6:56 am

I have Win XP SP2, AMD 64 and Norton running in background.

Using CS 1.6 non-steam(patch 20/21), i installed the preconfigured WC3 mod. I can run the dedicated server from desktop without any issues. I can use amxx and meta commands, no problem.

However, whenever i run the game and try to connect to my own server, i get an HLDS error(the server shuts down) and i come back to desktop.

Liblist file is also modified accordingly and i can't think of any other file that i have to modify. Please don't advise reinstalling windows, i can't do that.

NOTE: I only wana play on my local network(Not LAN but broadband). I have Windows 2003 installed too, if the game would run there.

Non-steam is the cracked CS version distributed throughout the net allowing to both play on servers without a valid cd-key and launch a standalone server which allows for connections from pirated copies.

Considering the above I wouldn't be surprised that you're getting failure from the server but a possible solution is launching with +sv_lan 1, -nomaster and -insecure.

I don't think the non-steam thing is involved, it might be some other issue.
I'll try the original CS on the same system to see if indeed its a piracy issue.

Keep me updated if you find something else.

I'm not going to help anyone with a non-steam version... you're on your own
